Back to the highlands I go. This is the start of the Murray brothers. They end up wounded and down the same road as Maldie Kirkaldy and she offered her services as nurse. They discover they share a common goal and enemy, but Maldie can’t reveal her identity nor deny her attraction.

So I’m not coming as your visitor, I’m being commanded to come. It would make your stay more pleasant if you view it as an invitation. I’m not sure I can lie that big to myself. Lol this has a promising start.

But herself was not feeling inclined to listen. lol

I don’t think I enjoyed this one as much as the others by this author. They got together way too early and I’m not sure exactly what else happened besides them getting together. Like all the action was at the beginning and the end. The middle was a bit slow. Overall though I enjoyed reading it and want to know how Nigel fairs in his quest to get over his love for his brothers wife.

Highland Captive

I’m skipping around again. Back to the highlands. Aimil is captured by a feuding clan. She should fear for her life and her virtue, but finds her captor alluring and finds her desire for him growing. Seems fairly straight forward.

He better ride quickly. If her brother dies I’m not going to be happy.

I love her sass and her horse right now. I can’t wait until he finds out she’s a girl.

Ok that was kind of a jerk move. Either give me your horse or yourself, but really if you give me yourself I’m still gonna try to win over your horse too. I’m not sure I can like Parlan right now.

Ok Parlan may be alright after all. So obviously he just bed her, but afterwards once she was asleep he went to her brother. He wanted to know more about her betrothal and if there was a way to break it. As he was leaving though he said he’d marry her then if that was the only way to keep her out of Rory’s hands.

Oh Aimil, no one should have to go through what you are going through right now. Although now I’m super curious how old was her mom? How old is Rory? Like we know how old Parlan and her brother are but um based on what’s being said Rory is like old enough to be your dad. I don’t think your dad knows what happened to your mom. Also, there is still a lot of book left. I’m not sure about this.

Oh girl that was so the wrong thing to say. You’ll be lucky if Parlan doesn’t murder you. He was slightly sympathetic to you before but you struck his pregnant wife. Why would you say that when you were trying to blame Aimil for tossing your sorry but in the manure pile anyway?

Lol yes. I’m going to go for a ride and hopefully shake some sense into this baby and remind him that babies are supposed to come out at some point. I feel like this isn’t a good idea.

Well I saw that coming from a mile away.

I really enjoyed this one. I do wish they had talked about their feelings a bit earlier but still overall it was good. I really like this author’s writing style. I’m glad I brought a few more of her books with me while on vacation this next week or so.

Reckless

The last one of the Highland Brides series. Ailis is the heir of her clan and a prize to be bartered by her father. She gets abducted by her clan’s worst enemy, Alexander. Oh not sweet widowed Alex. The rest of that description doesn’t make sense. So I’ll just get started.

I’m confused as to where this falls in the timeline of the other books. I thought it would be after but I’m pretty sure in the others he was a widow and had a daughter which doesn’t seem to be the case.

Lol. You have to go save the wee puppies.

So is she like pregnant now? They’ve been sharing a bed for six weeks and haven’t mentioned her period at all. Does she realize that she’s most likely pregnant.

Good grief. How long have they been there? They shared a bed for six weeks. She stayed out of his bed for a month. Now they’ve shared a bed for another ten weeks. She’s just lucky she didn’t get pregnant sooner.

Go Ailis. She totally just punched him in the face. That was awesome. He deserved it though. That was totally rude.

I’m not sure we can get much worse off than we currently are right now. Ailis is currently hiding in the wall of Malcom’s home, Donald is there visiting, Jaime is with her and is terrified of small dark spaces, oh and she’s giving birth right now. It gets worse, in exchange for his help she’s given Malcom one night with her, so she’s gonna lose Alexander (they’re gonna find a way around it but still). Oh and she just said she hopes Alex’s child has the good sense to know they are surrounded by danger and keeps his mouth shut when he’s born.

I liked the others in this series better. I would have liked him to see his friends while he was figuring out he was in love or at least introduced them to his girl after they got through everything. It was still a good read though. Anyway back to the book I started during lunch yesterday.

Highland Wedding

I finally got book two of this series. We have Sir Iain who lost his wife. She appears to have been killed by some enemy dude. He’s commanded by Scotland’s king to remarry to unite two powerful clans. Islaen has eleven brothers so little time for romance but longed for more than a forced marriage.

I thought some enemy killed his wife. Now though we are saying she died in childbirth. I’m confused.

Well this is looking bright and chipper. Like all the women want to kill her to get her husband or just seduce him away from her. Then there are the two degenerates that wanted to marry her for her money that are now going to be out to kill him so they can marry her. This is gonna end very well. And we are only on chapter two.

I mean you concealed your boobs for six years what’s concealing your first pregnancy for a few months. This is going to end badly.

Oh yay. She’s pregnant. Now the deception starts. Let’s see how long she can keep this up and who figures it out. Also, she has two guys trying to kill her to get revenge against Iain.

Wait a minute she was for sure pregnant when Fraser kidnapped her. Oh wait I figured it out. The first time he tried to rape her.

Well I liked that. I’m glad he decided that he loved her before they were attacked by the crazy dude.

His Bonnie Bride

I got this one at half price. Our girl is English and lives on the border of Scotland. Raiding and battle was a way of life and there is a code of honor on both sides. She gets taken by the enemy and all her stepmother has to do is pay the ransom. But as days turn to weeks it’s clear no one is fighting fair.

Ok like this is a terrible idea. Yes the men have gone off to battle and left us safely at the castle. Let’s leave the castle pack a picnic and go watch the battle.

Well it was a terrible idea. All the children were captured and will be held for ransom.

Of course Storm is going to be a fiery, strong willed lass. Good thing she’s not of age yet or I get the feeling Tavis would have kept her then. He is planning another visit though in eight or nine years.

Lol. Are you cold? Also known as, I know you aren’t but I’m scared and want to cuddle with you but I’m on the brink of being a man and can’t say such things.

Storm you really need to stop pissing off the women around you. Your stepmother, Janet and now Katherine. You better watch your back.

Oh please tell me that Janet is poisoning the Laird so she can have Tavis. That would be great!

Oh poor Storm. Pregnant and so alone. Although there is a lot of book left I wonder if her stepmother is lying.

I’m so glad her family is alive. That would have been just too tragic.

I really enjoyed this one. I liked her moxie and their chemistry. I think they pushed a bit hard on the not wanting to admit their feelings but they got there. Also, I’m finding that I’m not really a fan of keeping the pregnancy from the father where he doesn’t get to be there during the pregnancy and the birth. If they don’t end up together fine but if they are meant for each other I just feel bad that he’s missing out on that. I would have liked an epilogue of maybe a few years later, but there are two more books in the series so I guess I’ll survive.

I thought they were taking the English girl with them, but it doesn’t seem like she’s with them. I’m confused.

Aww. Brenda. I can’t handle what you’re going through. You need a happily ever after. You’ve been through too much.

I mean I kinda despised Duana. She was a bitch, but I didn’t really want to see her killed. Also, Helen is about to be kidnapped. I wonder how they will get her out without being seen.

No Janet don’t do that. That is the worst thing you could do. Don’t take your niece to court. The Earl dude is evil and has it out for your family. This is a bad plan.

Oh Brenda. I’m crying for what you’ve been through. I hope you survive but don’t have to go through any more hardships.

And all ends happily for now. I know it won’t stay that way. Some of the switches in perspective, location, time and people threw me off for a bit but I got in the rhythm after a bit. This was still pretty good.

Kiss of the Highlander

I’m in a Highland mood. It helps I’m watching Outlander. In this one our Laird was put under a spell and played the part of sleeping beauty for five centuries to be awakened by the kiss from a lovely lass. He has to get back to his time and save his people. He’d need help from the bewitching lady to get back. Gwen went to Scotland looking to shake up her life and maybe find a man. She didn’t expect to be swept back in time.

He totally just kidnapped her. This is great. I’m so glad he did that she needs some excitement in her life.

His younger self is a jerk. I kinda hope he gets his head out of his butt before his brother dies.

I didn’t see that happening. She got sent back to the future. How did that happen?

So I still liked this one but I’m not sure I liked it as much as the others. How is this one connected to the ones with Adam? I do think it’s romantic that he slept for five hundred years again to be with her. Although I wish we had had a bit more with the family that lived there after he woke up. It just felt like it ended a bit abruptly. Overall though I really like these books. The next one is about his brother. He went dark to save Drustan from a fire.

The Highlander’s Touch

Back in with the highlanders. Our mighty hero is a warrior with immortal powers. Lisa gets sent back in time 700 years. The rest of the description doesn’t make sense. Apparently he has sworn to kill Lisa, but not sure how since she’s from the future and he will save her from a tragic fate. I’m confused.

Well that was ominous and foreboding. Adam is back being his trickstery self. I’ve decided I don’t like him. Why is he messing in this. I don’t understand.

No you swore to kill the man who brought the flask. We will get around this by out Fae-ing the Fae. You’ve got this dude. No one will break any oaths and no one will die.

Well I’m fairly certain that young boy was Adam. She was smart to stay. Adam would have killed her, but he’ll play with her a bit first.

This is going to be epic. Duncan is ruffling the bed to make Circenn think they had sex and make him jealous.

Oh so Duncan your charm isn’t gonna win ya this redhead. She’s got your number and isn’t interested in being a notch in your belt.

Ok while I pretty much hate Adam I love him right now. “She was very unresolved on that point.” I just ish sort of gave her what she kind of wanted. I put her somewhere safe until you returned. Lol this is great.

Well that definitely needed an epilogue of them getting to know the baby. Also I did not see Adam being his dad that was a bit crazy. How did they tell her parents that he’s from a different time and get them not to freak when they take them there? I’m just left with lots of questions, but otherwise it was good.

Then he gets summoned to compete for the hand of Jillian, his true love. Jillian questions his motives since he didn’t show up to marry her until her father’s manipulations bade him to. I really enjoyed the first book in this series. I hope I like this one as much.

“A uniquely masculine moment of reflection convinced him she would be dazzled by his ingenuity.” Yeah that never bodes well buddy. Whatever your idea it was stupid.

Her middle name is Alanna. I’m pretty sure it has nothing to do with the Tamora Pierce series but a girl can dream.

This is great. I don’t know why I waited so long to read it. This is totally not a competition for her hand it’s an intervention to get dense brain to realize he has feelings and get over this family curse thing. Also, I like Logan “helping” her out by making Grimm jealous.

Kids are awesome. Zeke totally thinks Grimm likes Jillian and is courting her now and he approves.

You knew exactly who it was the whole time you asshole. Good grief you need to get over your curse nonsense and admit your true feelings.

Well that was unexpected. Why would someone poison Quinn? Other than Grimm for making time with his girl, which we know he didn’t do.

Yes that’s far more likely. Someone was trying to poison Grimm. The other guys ate his meal after the poisoned drink was poured over it.

Well you know things are going to go to shit now. She thinks life is going to be perfect and sunshine and roses.

I’m so sad right now. I can’t believe he just left. He’s leaving them unprotected. I just can’t with the feelings right now.

I hate fate. It’s a terrible thing. Of course he would be ambushed on his way to the wedding. And just mere miles from the church.

That was a bit odd timing for a prophecy but it was nice. Had a happily ever after.

Um, dude that waiting until she’s “well enough” to travel is gonna take about eight months by my calculations.

Yes! Balder is going to end up with Kaley!! It’s perfect.

This was great. I don’t know why I waited so long to read this one. I’m really enjoying this series. They beat the bad guys and Jillian had triplets that are already Berserker instead of changing at sixteen.

Onyx

Date read: February 5, 2019 – February 9, 2019

Going a little different now. Highland romance. We have our leading man who is thought to be a demon due to his two colored eyes. Our leading lady has lost her parents and searches for answers. Our main guy kidnaps her because he felt she was a threat to his mother. It sounds intriguing.

Well what a dramatic start. We have a Scots woman killing an English baron. An abandoned demon baby (just because he has two different colored eyes) that an Englishman wants dead. The Scotswoman keeps the demon baby. Then we skip twenty years and demon baby is grown up and it’s his birthday. Apparently he sort of dies if he gets too drunk or anxious. I guess I should also stop calling him demon baby now that he’s twenty and there’s no indication of magic or monsters in this book yet.

Hmm. I felt like it ended rather quickly. The dying thing was a little weird. So was the blind lady who knew like everything. His mom stole him then lied for his whole life. Her past catches up to her and she gets arrested by the English for killing the baron that killed her husband. Onyx meets lady love. He has never really been in love before so his feelings for her are new. They find this book of charms then go to save his mother. It’s all lies, lady love knows she won’t be able to save his mother. They get the England and the Black Death has struck again. His mom dies from that. Then Onyx goes to kill his father for trying to drown him as a baby. His father thought he died during child birth. He didn’t realize that it was just one of the little mini death things that Onyx has. Lady love shows up in time to stop Onyx from killing his dad. Onyx asks her to marry her, but when they get back to her home the king has arranged her to marry some other really old dude. She knew old dude and his men would kill Onyx so she said that she’d marry old dude and send Onyx away. He mopes around. Meanwhile she arranged for old dude to marry her mom and gets the king to allow her to marry Onyx and gets the banns read. Then she shows up in Scotland with his entire family for their wedding.
